Amber Suggs
Amber Suggs was elected by the students at SIU Edwardsville to serve on the Southern Illinois University Board of Trustees beginning July 1, 2008 and re-elected to a second term in 2009. Her term ends on June 30, 2010. Suggs is a native of Paducah, Ky., and a 1998 graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School. She is pursuing a Master's Degree in Public Administration and serves as a Graduate Assistant at SIU Edwardsville's East St. Louis Center. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communication from SIU Carbondale in 2002 and a Master's Degree in Mass Communication from SIU Edwardsville in 2008. Previously, she has served on the board of directors for Edwardsville Children’s Museum, Girl Scouts Shemamo Council and YWCA. Also, she was a member of the Paducah River City Club of Business Professional Women (BPW) where she represented Kentucky at the Virginia Allen Young Careerist Public Speaking Competition in 2005. She has held local, regional and state offices with BPW IL Federation. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. (Late) Curtis and Sharon Suggs. She is a member of Vaughn Hill Church of Christ in Wood River, IL. She’s a member of Alpha Upsilon Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc in East St. Louis, IL. MCCCE offers Educational Assistance Scholarships each spring for full- and part-time students enrolled at a post-secondary educational facility.The assistance awards are granted based on students' GPA, financial need, achievements and future goals.
